FineSoccer Kids 47 Welcome to the FineSoccer Kids Newsletter. Today’s subject deals with beating a player on the end line. First, for all of you new subscribers, you can read all of the previous newsletters by going to the FineSoccer Kids Newsletters at http://finesoccer.com/kids.htm If you are out wide and can beat the defense by getting to the end line and around the defender, you then have a couple of different options. First you can serve the ball as soon as you beat the defender and try to get it behind the defense. To learn more about the advantages of the early serve, please go to http://finesoccer.com/edition82.htm. Another option is to take the ball straight to goal. This will force the keeper and defenders toward the near post. At this point, you have two options (assuming the near post is covered). You can chip the ball far post over the keeper and defender or you can pick the safer option and play the ball back towards the 18 on the ground. If your teammate is prepared for this type of pass, she will have more time and a better angle to finish. If you can create this opportunity very often, and your teammates know how to react accordingly, your team will have many more scoring opportunities (and goals). Any questions, comments or suggestions should be sent to comments@finesoccer.com or they can be posted to the FineSoccer Forum at http://finesoccer.net To subscribe to any of the FineSoccer Newsletters, please go to http://finesoccer.com/subscrib.htm Have a great day!
